Ben
and Daniel are in an inventing mood of late. Recently Ben made a "microscope"
using a paper towel tube, plastic wrap, tape, and rubber bands. He said
I could even look underwater with it if I liked. The boys just got back from trying out another experiment in the bath tub. They made sailboats out of flat pieces of paper, straws, and plastic sandwich bags for sails. They looked pretty good but both of them knew that paper would get wet in water so they chose to wrap the paper with aluminum foil. You may have guessed the result. Flat foil doesn't float any better than paper, so the paper still got wet. Maybe now they're ready for some lessons in boat building from Mom and Dad. Covering paper up with aluminum foil doesn't make it waterproof (at least not without some pretty fancy designing). Neither does bypassing God's rules of order while making the replacement standards look pretty or politically correct. In 1 Timothy 2, Paul covers some touchy subjects. Whether it is the place of women in the church, proper dress, praying for those in authority over us, or His way of salvation, when we disagree with the Bible we disagree with God. We are on a paper raft and no amount of shiny fixing up will change the resulting spiritual chaos. Our way will sink. God's way works for everyone's good. You can try to get by with your own way or you can live life God's way. Have you talked to Him about your plans today?
