A good family oriented adventure TV
show, now in syndication is called "MacGyver." MacGyver was a special agent of
sorts whose ability wasn't
found in gun play (he hated them), his strength (he got beat up some) or
in miraculous luck. "Mac" was simply prepared.
He almost always used a Swiss Army Knife
along with whatever he found around him to get out of tight spots. MacGyver was
good at looking at common
elements and knowing how to make them work together to cut a rope, blow
open a door, escape a trap or defeat the enemy. His
preparation was in having the knife AND the know-how.
Paul exhorted the Ephesian church to be
prepared by using the armor of God and prayer. He made a promise to them when
he said, "Put on the full
armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the
devil."
As you may know, the devil is a crafty and
evil fellow who far outranks us in power and ability. But being prepared with
the armor of God, the Christian
can actually stand firm against his attacks! Furthermore, we are to
be prayerfully putting on that armor, since prayer is what
empowers us to make proper use of God's provided armor.
Are you ready today to stand firm?
Have you chosen to be prepared?
It's the only way you can
win against your powerful enemy, Satan.
