I
witnessed an accident not long ago in which a person was killed. It happened only
a few hundred yards in front of us at interstate speeds. The details are a bit
clouded because of the speed and the large cloud of dirt that erupted as the poor
fellow's vehicle plodded into the grass median. Of the many folks that slowed down at the scene, some knew what to do, some where in a state of shock, others just wanted to see and a few wanted away as quickly as possible. Those with training or experience took charge of the situation while others could not act sensibly. We are told, in Matthew 8:23 that a rough storm swept the sea while Jesus slept. Even the experienced fishermen among the disciples panicked as things got worse. When they woke Jesus, they were in fear of dying. Jesus calmed the storm but also made this cutting statement, "Why are you afraid, you men of little faith?" The follower of Christ should realize that Jesus goes with them in the trial. We, of all people, are prepared. We have seen what God can do in our own lives and should know by faith that He will take care of us. It is inappropriate for a believer to be in a panic when trials come. "Where is your faith?" Jesus would say. Don‘t LET the trials in your life loom larger than God.
