September
11, 2001 will be a date never forgotten by the generations living on that day.
I remember watching in stunned disbelief as the World Trade Center buildings collapsed.
I knew that, because of the size of the buildings, many would not get out alive,
but hadn't considered that many firefighters and police officers would actually
be going toward the buildings and rushing into the disaster. In recent months, many commentators have discussed America's reaction to the attack. Some have asked why we are not more outraged. Editorials from other countries have even gone as far as to say that the USA, to some extent, "deserved" the attack! 9-11 is, at the least, a wakeup call to remembrance. Throughout the Scriptures prophets and preachers continually wrote to remind us of what God has already done. God came to Joshua and told him to "be strong and courageous... " (Joshua 1:6). God had brought them this far and would take them on. As a Christ follower, though the world's greatest constructions crumble around you, you can be sure that God is still God! You can use an anniversary like 9-11 to remember and remind others that sudden judgment is possible, evil is present and God is with you, even in the worst of times!
