Raising
kids has got to be one of the greatest challenges that any human ever encounters.
You have to be conversant in culture, music and fashion to understand what
is going on. You have to be able to take care of medical emergencies, broken
toys, interpersonal relationships and lost teddy bears. And, you have to
be able to discern when you are being lied to! There have been
many occasions when my children have challenged me to figure out it they are lying.
Well, they don't say it in so many words. But the challenge is still there
as I listen to conflicting stories from two kids. At least one has to be
lying. Their mom has this great ability to "see through" things.
I have to rely only on the facts even if the answer may seem improbable.
The people of the days following Christ's death and resurrection were faced with
a similar situation. Jesus' disciples were proclaiming they had seen a risen
Christ. Those who had guarded Jesus' tomb were instructed by the religious
leaders who said, "You are to say, 'His disciples
came by night and stole Him away while we were asleep.'"
(Matthew
28:13)
Those people had the same choice we have today, we have to
rely on the facts. The facts are overwhelming in support for the truth
of the bodily Resurrection of Jesus. There isn't space to explain them here
but there are numerous good books and even short pamphlets that could be of help.
Don't just accept the "Big Lie." Check out
the facts.
