Recently our dog Oreo started showing some rather startling behavior.  He decided that he likes playing with and chewing on our firewood, which is piled right against the house outside a window.  But that isn't the outstanding part!
Oreo knocks on the window with sticks from the firewood pile!  He uses his mouth to latch on to a branch protruding from the side of a small piece of firewood, and swings his head toward the window, knocking on the glass.  I didn't fully believe the stories I was hearing from my wife until I saw it with my own eyes.  It is very intentional and he stops when we tell him too.
Dogs generally aren't supposed to devise behavior like that.  I can't totally explain it but it is true never the less.
Our sinful nature predetermines that we are going to have a problem with sinning.  In 1 Corinthians 6, Paul addressed his readers as people who had come from some very dark sins. He points out in verse 11 that they were "old dogs" that had, by the grace of God, learned some new tricks.  Many were "has-been" sinners.  Paul was trying to show the whole church that they didn't have to live like the world did, they could learn to overcome their past sins.
Don't be controlled by the devil's lie that you "can't change."  Some of God's greatest saints were transformed from horrible sin by the power of the risen Lord Jesus Christ.  You can be too!
