It
can be a good or bad thing. If you have a kid that is not afraid to jump out of
a window wearing a superman costume, you will wish he was more afraid. If you
have phobias where you fear being in an elevator, and you have to use one, fear
becomes a bad thing.
Terrorism is effective because it causes us to listen to fears we
would not normally respond to. We know that anthrax can be deadly but we don't
fear it until we are conditioned to believe it can show up in the mail. Flying
is still safer than driving but we may fear if we know there are evil people who
might purposely crash the plane we're on. God doesn't want us to live in fear.
Daniel saw a vision and met some heavenly beings that caused
him to fear (verse
9, 12 & 17). When he only saw the terrors in his mind instead of the presence
and victory of God, Daniel was frozen by fear. He was restored by the touch of
the pre-incarnate Christ (verse
18). Knowing God is present with us removes fear.
Are there fears that run your life? God does not intend for
us to live in fear. After all, we are on the winning side. Jesus is victor! Every
knee will bow and every tongue confess, that Jesus is Lord
(Philippians
2:8-11 ). We do not have to be afraid. Don't allow Satan to control you with
fear.
