We
are in that time of year again when a pesky little bug haunts our town. Actually
there are zillions of them. We refer to them as box-elder bugs. They
don't eat much and nothing seems to like to eat them. They are everywhere,
hanging around looking for a few last days of warmth in the sun. In their
quest, they find ways into our buildings and vehicles where they practice being
annoying! Those black and red bugs are like some people I know. Unproductive and annoying! Both aresure hard to love. Fortunately I am not under obligation to love those bugs. But I am under orders concerning other believers in Christ. John reminds us of the heart of God's commandments. There are actually two statements in 1 John 3:23. The second is an outgrowth of the first. John said "believe in the name of His Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, just as He commanded us." The commandment to believe came from the Father. Jesus was the one that passed along the directive to "love one another." Not everyone is that easy to love. Are you still willing to be obedient? Some people seem to try hard not to be lovable. Are you going to respond to the commandment anyway? Jesus was the great example of one who loved people who were not always lovable. The best example for to you to remember is YOURSELF In spite of your willful sins and disobedience, Jesus was still willing to die for you!
