Few things can be more irritating than trying to train someone who is convinced that they know it all. Most all of us know someone who fits into that category. Before they even have laid hands on the tool or piece of equipment, they are telling you how they would do it differently.
Cain was such a personality. God had made it clear to the first family of creation that a blood sacrifice was necessary to have their sins covered. The result would be an active fellowship with God in addition to eternal life.
In verse 3 we read, "Cain brought some fruits of the soil as an offering to the Lord." God warns Cain, "If you do what is right, will you not be accepted?" God warns Cain that his rebellious attitude will destroy him. Cain not only ignores God's warning, but kills Abel as a result.
Sin is destructive. If you choose to harbor it, or deal with it your way instead of God's, you will eventually lose. God instructed humanity that a blood sacrifice is necessary to have our sins dealt with. The ultimate blood sacrifice was of offered by the Lord Jesus Christ. God has accepted that sacrifice, but we must claim it for our own.
Are you trying to find God your way, or His?
